“Play is the work of the child”
Why choose us?
Lemon Door Playschool is a nurturing and safe environment. Your child will feel respected, loved and secure at Lemon Door. The classroom offers a prepared environment in which students explore, create, and interact socially. Our aim is to develop a love of learning through play and to elicit a desire for exploration and discovery.
Play-based learning emphasizes sensory experiences, social interaction, and positive communication. Academic concepts such as numeracy, early reading and writing skills, and math and science concepts are introduced through play and project-based learning activities. The children will spend at least two hours each day outside and each day will include age appropriate activities such as sensory experiences, character and relationship building-experiences, arts and crafts projects, practical life skills and of course lots of story time. Social and emotional learning is practiced through check-ins and the naming of feelings and emotions. School readiness is supported with communication and circle time, literacy activities and reading practice, and guided physical activities such as yoga, dance and dramatic play.
The teachers at Lemon Door Playschool are experienced facilitators, nurturers and partners in your child's learning process. Learning becomes a collaborative process as we seek to balance teacher direction and children’s freedom of choice.
Lemon Door Playschool is a director/teacher-owned preschool. Lemon Door Playschool is licensed in Washington State. All staff members are CPR/ First Aid Certified and registered with MERIT. We offer the highest ratios of teachers to children in the industry with five full-time teachers and an onsite owner/director.
We serve fully potty independent preschoolers aged 3-5 for full-day care in a mixed-aged classroom setting. We are licensed by Washington State for up to 30 children and we maintain ratios of 1:6 instead of the state requirement of 1:10 for this age group.
